Psychotherapist

Maybe you struggle with boundaries, knowing what your needs are. Maybe you feel drained, dysregulated or confused by relationships. Maybe you’re looking to get to know yourself better.

Maybe you feel generally overwhelmed and are looking for ways to find some safety in your life.

Maybe the terrifying shit happening in the world all the time is challenging your sense of meaning, and you’re looking to be seen and supported as you face the existential crisis of figuring out how to live in this world.

I use somatic-focused modalities like IFS and EMDR together with depth work and mindfulness. What does that look like in practice?

In our work, I am supporting you as you engage with your story as your life’s narrative, and find the evolving, deep, specific and unique personal meaning that this story has to you.

I’m also seeking to explore the parts of your experience that transcend words, that exist as felt sense and significance in a less rational, more immediate way- what it’s like to hold that story, what you might need to be able to hold that story with greater ease.

Once we are more familiar with that story, its meaning, and how it feels to hold it, we can figure out how to contain it in the present in a way that keeps you lucid and tuned in to what’s happening Now.

I tend to be an excellent fit for people experiencing big, serious existential questioning, confusion, panic or depression in the wake of trauma or loss, and for people who want to learn how to feel comfortable and safe in relationships with other people and the world.

Individual Therapy

I work with adults and teens who want to deepen their self compassion, hone their ability to care for themselves with attunement and generosity, and learn how to manage the stress of living in this world both realistically and with strength and integrity.

I value striking a good balance between seriousness and humor in therapy, and I believe in approaching the therapeutic relationship in a grounded and human way.

Groups

I am planning to offer several groups, starting when there are enough interested participants. Please reach out if you are interested in joining

Empowered Anxiety:

An Acceptance and Commitment Therapy informed group that examines the way that anxiety can actually help us identify our values, and strengthen our capacity as agents of change in our own lives and in the greater world.

Menstrual Mental Health

Nobody tells us what’s happening to our bodies when we start menstruating, and many people go through many years of confusion and chaos and shame before they learn anything about the profound depths and complexities of the impacts of the menstrual cycle on your emotions throughout the cycle. That sucks! It’s our right to know how to hold our bodies through this profound monthly transformation with grace and love. This group is absolutely LGBTQIA+ affirming.

Healing the Sibling Relationship:

Growing up in an emotionally strained family system can wreak havoc on our connection to our siblings, and yet these relationships can ultimately be sources of strength and resilience if we can move toward them with boundaries, care, and communication. This group supports siblings in processing the particular kind of both shared and unshared trauma of being different children of the same parents. We will focus on learning positive communication strategies to build trust and connection. Trauma-informed, strengths-based, and facilitated by someone with lived experience of this process of sibling relational repair.

Dreamwork

Dreams, as strange and inscrutable as they can sometimes be, often contain poignant insights into the way we are relating to our lives.

If you are curious, we can bring dreamwork into the therapy space as a way to strengthen your connection with the parts of you that sit a little deeper than the day-to-day thoughts and feelings. It's okay if you have had a forgetful or distant relationship to your dream life! There are ways for even the most forgetful sleepers to build that connection and allow you to access the beautiful, inspiring and revealing wisdom that dreams can carry.

"Artemisia" is the genus name of Mugwort, a plant that is an ally of dreamers! The word Artemisia derives from the "Artemis", the Greek deity of the moon representing wild, passionate sovereignty and freedom, The moon illuminates the truth in deep darkness, if only we can wait patiently and trust that the light will return.
